I wonder how many of you have pets and what they mean to you.  There is something wonderful and magical that they can give to you and you can give to them.  I believe it is called love.  Like humans, love is often not enough because there are so many things that affect this union, things that we do not have any control of.  It grieves me to have to tell all you that our beloved Maddie, our cat, has cancer throughout her body and there is nothing that can be done.  I am not sure if either of us will ever be the same when she is gone.  She has given us her love and devotion and we have given ours right back to her so we will always treasure that.  So for those of you who have pets, love them as if there is no tomorrow.  You will have that to fall back on.

Right now, we do not know when the end will come so we will just keep loving her and keep her as happy and pain free as possible.

I'm sorry for you and your wife, Jack.  We certainly, in many cases, become very attached to our pets.   If they have a name, they usually become "characters" and part of the family.  My wife is even worse than I am when ever we lose one.

I have a related question for you and others on this forum.

I know many of us have taught our dogs to at least sit, and come and stay possibly....but have any of you ever taught your cat(s) to do the same?  Or taught a cat to do anything?  We haven't done so in our house, except to immediately come looking for food at the sound of a can opening or a bag rustling!   And this was the cat's idea, not ours.  Yep, cats are different, that's for sure?   How about it?  Any "trick" cats out there?

Jack, I'm SO sorry to hear about your cat. I know how much she means to you and your wife. It's so hard to lose one of our "fur-kids." If it's any consolation, she knows how much you love her and she's had a happy life with you. I'll be thinking of you. Linda
