LJ, my mom has also had corneal transplants in both eyes, she would be blind by now if  she hadn't received this gift.


Frazz, I appreciate your sharing this with all of us.  It is a good example of what can be done through our donar programs while enhancing the lives of the recipients who benefit from the programs.  Coping with blindness is a long slow process and I am grateful your mother did not have to endure it

Believe me, we appreciate it too!  I think of all the things she would have missed out on seeing these past several years, and I appreciate organ donation that much more.

As I was reading your article, Uncle Osacr  passed my mind. What an insperation. I dont think there wasnt much that man couldnt do.

I am a 9 gallon blood donor and carry a card as a organ donor but I believe I have been excluded from both because of the cancer. I know that I can not donate blood until I have been in remission for 5 years.

 

Also tomorrow I will be going to Iowa City to see the University's Oncologist with a armload of paper work I have for possile treatment. Hopefully there will be a treatment option for me.
