At least 10 states' governors are GOP

Posted in: Muscatine

anyone else noticing that biden has been kept out of the spotlight?...ive not heard anything about or from him in a long time......

Biden did a lot of campaigning in Nev, Ca and Ohio but didn't see much on tv about that. They pulled all the big guns to save Boxer, Reid and Jerry Brown. Can't imagine why they didn't go after Jan Brewer, as obama obviously hates her.

They knew Arizonians would kick their butts.  What I'm hearing from people in Arizona (both conservatives and libs) is anger regarding the targeting of their state by Obumbler and the justice dept.

Back to the subject of governors.  The importance of the huge pickup in Republican Governorships has not been reported well.  It is really very very important.  The 2010 US census redistributed the house of representative seats for 2012 and the governors and state legislatures decide were those districts go.   Because of the census, a lot of seats left traditionally democrat states to go to the south and southwest to traditionally republican states. NY lost and Texas gained, for instance.
Republican governors were elected and can now influence those districts. Gerrymandering is the unbalanced redistricting of states to favor one party or another. It's a common practice (of both parties).   In some states you see districts that look like dumbbells. There is one district called the earmuffs which covers all of Buffalo, NY; thins out along Lake Ontario and covers Rochester.

A lot of big population states went with republican governors. Which means no matter what, the house will have a strong republican flavor for the next 10 YEARS!

By the way, with - I think - four states yet to be decided, Republicans picked up a net gain of 9 governorships.  The only states that switched from Republican to Democrat governors was Calif. and Hawaii.  So far 12 have switched from Democrat to Republican.

The NY Times is publishing a map, online, of the Senate, House, and Governor race results.  Showing red for Republicans, blue for Dems, and grey for Independents, etc.  Notice the map for the House/Congress race results so far.  Notice the strange shapes of a lot of the districts.  Also notice that the striated pattern indicate a "pickup" or switch of parties in that district.   I find quite a few that switched from Dem. to Repub.  I can find none that switched from Repub. to Dem!  You can go to the top of the page and click on similar maps for Senate and Governor race results.

Very important, indeed.
