Snow Removal for the upcoming season

Posted in: Muscatine

Tom....I didn't know anyone either, and am sorry for your current situation, but once you get his bid, would you post it here....I may require some help when I'm gone travelling at my new place. He probably would appreciate the spreading of his word too.

BB,

The guy was supposed tto call me this morning, telling me when he would be over today.  So far (13:11), he hasn't called.  Hope he does.  If/when I hear something, I will post it here.  Thankx for your concern.  Tom.

Tom,

As a veteran, I don't know what you have sought for assistance. You may already be aware of benefits from the VA in Ia. City, or the Iowa Dept. of Vet Affairs at: http://www.iowaworkforce.org/veterans/Veterans%20Benefits%20Book.pdf ,

and even our local county vet's commission. You can call either Toby Strause at 563-506-1652 or Ron Miller at 563-264-1864. They have local programs that include rent assistance, utilities, food and provisions, gas and transportation. Small or zero co-pays and health care are among services available for local veterans who seek their help too.

Don't be afraid to ask....you are entitled to it and deserve help, being a vet, and especially being off work. They might even pay for snow removal for ya. Good luck!

BB,

If, I were indigent, I'd seek outside help, but, since I'm not, I'll reserve that for the people that need it.  As far as the VA goes, I have been going to the VA in Iowa City for about 15 years now, and, they are the ones who have put me on the restrictions.  As far as the snow removal guy goes, we did talk yesterday, and, he sounds like he intends on being very reasonable.  He will call @ 2" of snow, to see if we want it done.  IF it turns into 12" of snow, he will come back (same day), and do it again (little or no cost).  We have a total of about 60' of walkway, a 50-60' by 12' driaveway, and, he'll do it for $30.  I DID NOT think that, that was out of rreason at all (especially if he has to do it more than once in any given 24 hour period).  He goes to college in the QCA.  So he does his stuff very early in the morning, and/or in the afternoon (which I opted for), after school.  His name is Tyson Smith, and, his telephone number is:  563-260-5933.  You might want to give him a call.  He's a 20 something gentleman, and appears to be the kind of guy that won't take you to the cleaners.  I hired him on the spot (it's cash and carry).  He'll call me the first time we get around 2' of snow to see just when I want him to do it.  Good luck, so far, I'm very happy.  Tom.
