Gas Prices

Posted in: Muscatine

What a great time for gas prices to go thru the roof! The weather is not conducive to walking or riding a bike and filling the tank leaves less money to fill the stockings.

Does anyone have a clue when the prices will go down or will it just continue to go up? The time that we had a big spike in gas prices was blamed on Bush and his oil connections, so what is it now? Is this due to the drilling ban in the gulf region?

There is no doubt gas prices are going to be going up.  But I was surprised how low ours were.  Tina and I went to Penn. for Thanksgiving and when we left prices were bouncing around $2.68 gal here.  On the way out we were paying mostly $2.95 a gal.  Granted that was interstate prices (which are usually higher) but even when we got to Allentown, gas prices there were $2.93 - 2.98 gal.  That was their usual price.

Our gas sales tax isn't as high but our car registration renewal is A LOT higher.

OP,

as of yesterday morning, I saw the gas price at HyVee at $2.89, I believe it was, so, gas is definitely going up here.  I paid $2.89 at West Side, this morning.
