Braindead demonstrates naïvety

Posted in: Muscatine

Our State Leader Comes to Muscatine and details an absolute failure of a proposal, possibly.  He indicated he will in effect invent a quasi public private entity to bring jobs to the State.  He was very careful not to mention to Muscatine.  He did state he will roll back commercial taxes, and (Gee Whiz) call for putting limits on how much our local residential taxes will be raised. Lets see only 4% per year  per 0city hall, board of education, County Board of Supervisors, and any other taxing entity.  Lets take the three mentioned times 4% = 12% per year.  Oh we will get new industry, which means new jobs, but again, not in Muscatine.  The huge reduction in Commercial taxes will take effect over 5 years.  So the state can raise residential taxes for 5 years.  Lets see 12% per year times 5 years only means residential taxes will only increase 60%.  Man, thats cheap. $1,000.00 now $1,600.00 in 2016.  Bur we may get new jobs.  Except for Muscatine.

Looking around the room I made an additional observation.  I am a senior citizen, but felt as though I was a very young person compared to most in the room.  I honestly feel a young person in that room could be defined as anyone under the age of 65.  No wonder Pre School was never mentioned, most people in the room don't even envision a concept of pre-school.

What I envision is a "new Industry" search similar to what is in Muscatine presently, which by all measuring devices has failed miserably, yet keeps sucking money from the City and County.  These people were all there as well.

". . . detail an absolute failure of a proposal, possibly."

Wow, talk about braindead. That sentence does not make sense. If you don't get the attention of the readers in the first sentence - hang it up - and if the rest of your rant made as much sense as that first sentence I didn't want to read it - so I didn't.

It appears that just the idea that the fool democrats are no longer in charge in the Iowa House and the Governor's office has positively affected the jobs numbers here in Iowa.

The statewide economy has improved in recent months. The total number of employed Iowans stood at 1,576,500 in January; 13,400 higher than last January.

In additioin, the anticipated better business environment in the U.S. since the outcomes of last November's elections has resulted in numbers moving in the right direction.  The U.S. unemployment rate fell to 9.0 percent in January from 9.4 percent and to 8.9 percent in February.

And this without yet implementing any of the Republican measures to get government off the backs of the businessman and woman.  I'm very optimistic and am looking forward to even better conditions after the 2012 elections when the rest of the bums are thrown out and sensible measures have been given the chance to work.

It is more interesting that the Governor has only received two bills for his signature.  At the meeting today, he blasted the Iowa House for only doing social agenda bills and not the important one, Jobs.  He also took a shot at the Senate for doing nothing as well.  He indicated there three signatures required to get a bill past, the Senate, Iowa House, and his.

There wasn't much reception for his plan from the audience, so lets wait and see how the House and Senate cuts it in pieces.

Iowa's economy was slowly recovering last July, only the election had people fibbing about the deficiency of Iowa's Economy, and this session they had a surplus going into session from the recovery.   Had the Republicans admitted this, they may have not been elected.

We still need jobs in Iowa, and especially in Muscatine.  Lets hope they some day arrive.  The one thing we need is good paying jobs, will we get them?
