Suspended?
How can a student be suspended from school without the parents knowledge?
My understanding is the parents are involved when a student is suspended.
The schools aren't responsible for what doesn't occur on school grounds (movie theater example). Maybe this kids parents need to step up. I can tell you if I had a son showing a knife around with a hit list I wouldn't depend on someone else to solve MY problem.

Clarification
When I said no parents were notified, I didn't mean the knife wielder's, I meant that the schools didn't notify ANY parents about the potential risk their kids were under. Kids on list parents weren't contacted. School swept all under rug -- AS USUAL.
We've got kids OD-ing in the parking lots. We've got kids drunk as skunks in class. We've got kids threatening others with death. But you know what the schools say? WE HAVE NO DRUG OR ALCOHOL PROBLEMS IN THIS DISTRICT. Give me a break. Thiede is no better than Yocum was. This ''new'' school board is like the old. Pander to boosters and get them votes. Stemen is Stemen - probably the root of most of the problems.

Clarification clear as mud...
You need to put the blame where it belongs. How can Lew Stemen be the reason kids are drunk in class? How can he be why they OD in the parking lot?
I'm sick of hearing it's everyones fault but these loser kids & their parents.
How about kids make bad choices and pay for them. If they do it more than once - then their parents need to WAKE UP too - where's accountability? Does it no longer exist? Jeesh! Since when should everyone else be more responsible for these kids actions than their parents?
I've spoken to the administration at the high school (that's where my kids are) - they have sheriff's with dogs randomly searching the schools & parking lots multiple times per month at all the Junior High and High schools schools. I know kids were caught at Central this past month & expelled. I don't think any kid gets a free ride with drugs & alcohol in this district.
Should the school district get billboards & list the kids that are discipline problems? Maybe we should ask the papers to publish a weekly expulsion list for the schools in the Police Beat. But wait, these rotton kids have lots of rights and privacy issues. So what exactly do you want?

It always someelse's fault
Remember, it is never the student's or parent's fault. It is society's, it is the administrator's, it is always someone else's responsibility when a student does wrong. I know it is not the current thought but maybe if more parents were involved in raising their kids (rather than the day care down the street) there would be more accountability to the actions of kids. If you're not involved in the discipline when they are young you're not involved when they are older.
