A long ago period of poorly planned overdevelopment left this area ripe for demise until The Edgewater Community Council was created and began the successful process of re-building a thriving popular community. Today a wonderfully diverse neighborhood combines cultures, singles and families, gays and straights, all able to enjoy the beauty of Lake Michigan at Berger Park or Lane Beach. Shopping includes 2 great antique markets and entertainment in the neighborhood is lead by theatre, both the Raven Theatre and City Lit are very popular and successful.
