I saw the story.  They should have scouted for this before they started cutting things down. They have made A LOT of progress today. At this point it is too late I am afraid. Thanks for helping anyways.

I remember 16 years ago before they ever broke ground the president of Queens came out to one of our HOA meetings to show plans.  It was very hot in the month of July.   At that same meeting we had someone speaking about all the owls that lived in the woods.  This was before the grounds were ever broke for Queens.    So they knew their was ouwls and hawks on the gounds.    That meeting is documented in this history of the HOA minutes on this web site.

Still don't have an official answer but did just get this message from Mr. Garges the diretor of P&R.

Hi Martin,
You may be right and I'll have Chris Matthews help with the correct information about what occurs In a situation like this with the impacted wildlife.  I appreciate your concern.

Thanks,
Jim
I will let you know what Mr. Matthews says on the topic.

All of the wildlife  from 16 years ago has most likely retreated to the very wood line that is now being torn down. I am just saying a new study should have been done. One of the perks of living along the woods  for me anyways is all of the wildlife we can watch from our own homes. I understand the park is going to be wonderful for the neighborhood. I just wish a little bit more thought had gone into it. They were suppose to build the tennis complex a while ago. I understand funding was an issue. So that means they had even more time to check on the impact of the wildlife. Like I said they have started the destruction of the remaining woods and I don't see them stopping now. Maybe with them knowing about the owls and hawk they did do a study. You have been a really big help like always. And I thank you for taking care and caring about our neighborhood. Do you think they might post" keep your dogs on a leash" signs along the remaining wood line after construction? People still don't leash their dogs while in the woods. Thanks again.
