I agree with everything with the exception of no grandfathered firearms and paying a fee for the license. I do not feel the government or states should benefit from our rights by charging another fee for a license.

I think our country should do a better job with governing gun owners. If you are a sane person that chooses to honor thier right to be a gun owner than these restrictions are not that out of line in my opinion. My husband and I are both gun owners as we enjoy hunting and target shooting and completely would be devastated if our right to bear arms were taken away. Eventually, if the government does not get a handle on gun violence in this country they will have no choice but to take that right away.

We will comply to these terms and be happy that we still have the right to bear our arms and be happy that our kids and families are safe from the "crazy" gun owners that shoot up schools, do a drive by or any other means of violence. I do not take these measures as a means of "taking away our rights"...I view them as a means of controlling gun violence and keeping our nations children safe.

Is anyone really safe? Who's going to save us from an oppressive government, once they nit pick away our right to own arms?

I have serious issues with these statements Dawn, your first statement is all wrong...the government needs to put criminals away who commit crimes using guns.....most criminals CAN NOT  legally own or purchase a firearm....if the justice system would give them hard time for thier crimes instead of slaps on the wrists things would be better.

The government under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should never have the right to take away our second amendmant right. If you take the guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens, the criminals will still have them.

Good afternoon all!

I simply must "place my bet" here and apologize in advance for the lengthy reply. My mr. owns the guns here, just a couple but we could get Bambi if needed. But I cannot allow the plethora of unconstitutionality that much of that proposal would be violating, not to mention the illegality of setting up a national registration law. As one or more of you put it-- as I have, "you simply cannot regulate to death a guaranteed right to posses and bare, based on the actions of Criminals, accidents and crimes of passion." The only true way to eliminate or "get a handle" so to speak, on these types of injuries and death is to eradicate them as many other nations- Nations without such an amazing and well crafted constitution, have done. I like to look to the Swiss as a perfect example. There, you are essentially told to own weapons and the crime rate is nearly the lowest on EARTH! France, England, Australia etc, all share crime rates per capita, much like our own, AND, unless you are of an aristocratic lineage, or military/law enforcement, THEY don't get to own them. Too bad too.

Don't forget that the most important element of the freedoms we enjoy is directly born out of the desire to be free to protect yourself, your family, and be free of tyranny and oppression by an imperialistic government THAT----our founding fathers established OUR constitution for, in the first place. THAT is paramount and of the utmost importance. Thereby, should the government be able to GUARANTEE our safety, then by all means regulate them to death. But I would be more than happy to wager EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD.. that NO SUCH guarantee will EVER be offered. Criminals don't have the right to do anything of the nature in crimes that they commit in the first place, and DO NOT have the right to own guns anyway.  That's what makes them criminals! I get the argument and understand the mentality, that if we knew who had what--- and how they used it and kept it, that we  MIGHT feel safer, but in all reality, that just tells them, (bad guys and cops) just where to go get them. And, for pete sake, when have you ever heard of a criminal announcing his/her intentions, and have the courtesy to hang on a minute while YOU, the victim unlock and load your only real sound defense? OR in the case of a potential LIBERAL FASCHIST attack on our rights EVER succeeds, wait while you look for another type of formidable defensive weapon and wait for help to arrive(EVENTUALLY) but you'd be dead by then, raped, beaten or robbed blind before they got there. This is just so silly. Again, I get it, but I'd rather rely on my own power to at least attempt to even the odds should it EVER be needed. And in April I will be an old bookwormy bat of 75 years.

I'm sorry, but to me that CONSTITUTION( sworn upon) by ALL our elected officials, to preserve, protect and defend, is what this is all about. ANYONE WHO VIOLATES THAT OATH, NEEDS TO BE FIRED! This battle was just fought in the US supreme court and should simply die in it's tracks, but also I'd like to know the name(S) of the ratfink loser rep.(s) who have proposed this new legislation?

WHEW! SISTER--That one woke me up a bit.

God Bless.
