While I do sympathize with folks that have kids with problems(my own have had their share) it is the schools responsibility to educate kids, not act as mom and dad. Ther eis no reason that a few disruptive kids should be allowed to disrupt the majority of the kids learning opportunities. While the staff should give a listening ear and suggestions, in the end the kids that are disruptive and dont want to cooperate should be removed from the enviornment. We are all responsible for our own actions. Sometimes it hurts to suffer the consequenses.

Ask yo0urself how you would react to dealing with uncooperative and uncaring parents day after day and would you be an a(*hole now and then?  I would.

Had same issues with one of our sons, he was jumped from behind and had the hood of his coat pulled over his head while he was being beat on. Finally wiggled out of his coat and fought back. Both were suspended for fighting. They stated up front that they knew he did not start it. We asked then what he was suppose to do since he was defending himself. We were told he was to curl up in a ball! Are you kidding me! I was never happier than the day all of our kids finally graduated and got out of there.

My son had problems with a kid shoving him, i told my son in front of the teacher to pick up a 2x4 and beat the s.o.b. with it......the teacher got a kick out of it....til i told her this same kid held a knife to my sons throat......she didnt think it was a cute remark after that cuz, i meant what i told my son............if the school cant protect my child ...my child has the right to defend himself.

If someone held a knife to your son's throat, I can only hope and assume that you filed assault charges with the police.

While the high school staff is certainly not perfect, I do believe that most have the best interest of our kids at heart.  I sent two through the system.....both graduated, both graduated from college with a solid base of knowledge, neither had a fight in their four years there, neither was ever suspended, and I never felt the need to advise either to use a board to defend themselves.

I believe that kids get out of public education exactly what they are willing to put in.
