You guys are all so cute with your little man-crush.
'The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.' - Ronald Reagan
So he ran for office because he didn't want to help people? Makes sense.
'Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.' - Ronald Reagan
Guess that's why he never ran a budget surplus and the national debt rose by by almost $1.7 trillion (over 20% as a percentage of GDP) during the Reagan years.
'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession... I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.' - Ronald Reagan
Must be why he never became a politician. Oh, wait...
'Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed, there are many rewards; if you disgrace yourself, you can always write a book.' - Ronald Reagan
Well, that does explain
this.
I don't mean to insult your bromance or anything but...
I'm always amused at the anti-government rhetoric of conservatives who are employed in, or are seeking employment in, the government. Based on their words, they should all stop running for office and begin advocating for anarchy.
But even more amusing are those who vote for candidates who claim that government can't work. As an employer I would never hire a person who claimed that my product was useless. Nor would I hire someone who believed my company to be the root of all problems. Yet conservatives keep running for office and their constituents keep voting for people who think the government is useless. Seems rather oxymoronic to me.
(BTW - Here are a few other Reagan quotes you forgot.)
