Hey big bro, i didnt know that they had maid-rites out in california......i just thought it was a local thing......thats kinda cool.......west liberty maid rites used cheese slices instead of the cheese sauce like muscatine.....and their meat tasted different....davenports meat tasted differently..............it kinda sucks that they're owned by franchisers now.....still good food just too expensive anymore.....

The orignal maidrite was served with mustard, pickles and onions, nothing else.  Depending on who served it to you, it could be a little juicy which added alot to the flavor.  I prefer mine that way; a little juicy, with mustard, pickles and lots of onions......no ketsup.

Yea...we were driving through Sacramento on old I-80 when I saw the sign lit up at night one evening. I went to the next exit and came back and we had dinner there that night. Never saw another Maid-Rite out there.

They are expensive...but I think Tuesday was a special sales day In Muscatine; at least last year when I stopped. Cheaper, but still expensive.

IronJack is correct!!!  (because he's my brother!)  Believe me, if you never had a MaidRite during the 1940s or 50s, you have never had a MaidRite.  Cheese on a MaidRite?  God help us!   Anybody remember the TasteRite?  That little cafe had a very good loose meat sandwich...nothing like a MaidRite, but very good.
