ok I have a few questions for jos. See I remember when I was a kid and my folks both worked at I.H. and we had great insurance. In fact my pops said he could have quit his job and been hired at Deere or case the same day. so my question is where did those jobs go. I would blame the free trade agreements like Nafta and Cafta, who started these free trade agreements bush sr. and clinton continued them and so did W.

So how did we get into the uninsured mess any way. Have we always had this gap in uninsured people or was everyone insured and out of no where the insurance disappeared. So who is to blame for all the uninsured, the federal government. they passed bills that allowed our good jobs to leave our shores.

have you done any real checking into these other national health care systems.

Are they good health care, what problems have they had, is the medical service now better or has it got worse. If we have the best health care in the developed nations, why would we trade it for one that is 2nd or 3rd best. do you really want to wade through government red tape to get health care. has the government ever taken control of something and it got better like education. how about has the government ever nail the cost down or do they grossly underestimate the cost.

what is socialism- it is the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles. Also it is  the economic system in which the production and distributing of goods are controlled substantially by the central government and not private Enterprise. Folks this is the greatest country in the world, we are free to make or own choices and with that comes great responsibility. If you don't like the responsibility then by all means load up your family and belongings and move to a country of your choice(like my aunt did, she move to Scotland so her husband could get free health care)

do you really want our congress to rush this nobama plan through without some serious studies. Is it that big of a problem or do we have more pressing problems like the job loss rate, the economy, the 2 wars we are in. i think we need a change in the federal government and get some people that real care for the people and not their own careers. I think the federal government created this mess with all their free trade agreements and now they want us to except these socialist plans to fix them. that is called sliding towards communism. what about the crappy health treatment the war vets are getting.

in yesterday's journal on the editors page is a letter. in that letter the person says that at least half of the uninsured are illegals. why should I have to help out criminals that are breaking our laws ever day. every day they stay here they are breaking the law, they can't get driver's license so the are breaking the law, they work without ss numbers so they are breaking the law.

no this is a bad ideal. bad bad bad bad ideal.

STOP BELIEVING EVERY THING YOU SEE ON TV. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!!!!! DO YOU THINK FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS WERE DONE TO MAKE YOUR LIFE BETTER OR THIERS. DO YOU THINK BANNING NATURAL MEDICINES WAS DONE TO HELP YOU OR THE BIG PHARMA COMPANIES! WAKE UP NOT EVERY THING THE GOVERNMENT DOES IS GOOD FOR US!!! STOP BELIEVING THE LIES THEY SPIN!

I thought I might have got this email from one of our neighbors:

"I voted Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want.
I've decided to marry my horse.

I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

I voted Democrat because Freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

I voted Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what they are doing because they now think we are good people.

I voted Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

I voted Democrat because I'm not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits.

I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the democrats see fit.

I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite The Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my ass that it is unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view."

The main initiator and driver behind the increase in costs has proven to be law suits and unreasonable monetary judgements.  That's what really needs to be fixed, if anything is "fixed".  Everyone knows that tort reform is the answer, but the Dems will not go against their shiester lawer buddies.

Everyone? Wow, nothing like a little hyperbole, eh hiroad? I'm sorry but you're gonna' have to show some proof for that claim.

And shiester lawyers? Who are you, Victor Newman from the Young and the Restless?

...Dems are always harping about those poor unininsured, and cost only as an afterthought.

Cost has been the focus since very early on.

Anyway, what has been proposed, so far, will only increase cost, not reduce it.

And your proof is...?

And, you have a fixation with the word "fixation"!

Actually, I said "fetish" this last time.
