Sorry....this last effort was pointed in the direction of JOS.  Seems my posting etiquette gets worse the older I get, among other things.

Yes, we should help the Haitians in their hour of need with food, water, medicine and medical assistance. Yesterday bill clinton said that no one should go to Haiti unless they were providing food, water, medical supplies or medical assistance. Just watch the news and see that even those basic needs are not being made available to all areas because of lack of leadership and organization. When the gov't of a nation is so inept that they can't even help the people they are supposed to help we have one sorry situation folks. Kind of like ray nagen and gov blanco in louisiana.

When you have a country that doesn't even make education mandatory?!?

Does anyone wonder why Haitians flee their country in handmade, inferior 'boats', often to lose their lives in this pursuit? Their gov't is corrupt and we should send our hard-earned money? If you donate, make sure it is thru one of the "safe" charitible groups - don't respond to those emails- give to the red cross or sal army. Get them thru this crisis as it is THE RIGHT THING TO DO. If they then choose to build unsafe buildings after this has proven to be at the very least not in their own best interest - so be it.

For heaven's sake, you all act like kids. "did too...did not...did too." You're supposedly adults so for heaven's sake, act like it. This is ridiculous.

This site has turned into nothing more than a kindergarten sandbox!

And let me ask you all one question and go inside yourself and answer it honestly. If Haiti were the same country but the people were white, would you feel the same way? I'm sure that not a one of you would answer that honestly out loud, but deep inside, think about it.

For the life of me I can't understand why any decent human being would advocate denying help to people who so desperately need it. We sit in front of our big screen TV's and our latest computers, stuffing our overweight mouths and some of you would deny the basics to people who have less than you can even imagine? That makes me sick.

And I'm not coming back here so you can rant and rave all you want about what I've said. I won't see it and I personally don't care because some of you will never get it. At the end of the day I can live with my conscience knowing I've done whatever I can to help those less fortunate.

Hey teach:   Please read this article (and the embedded report) if you have time.

Developed nations have already plowed $3 billion plus dollars into Haiti with no effect.

By the way, white/black...is not the point.   It's the cultural differences that create the problem, not the skin color.    Do you really mean would we feel different if the country's culture was different?  I'd say yes.
