Jeff I don't want to beat a dead horse. I was in your store several times. Many of your toys either came from Wal-Mart or were purchased from the same place Wal-Mart buys toys. I didn't see the differance. Again maybe you can explain.

The toys we carried were from reputable small toy companies.  The first question I would ask a potential sales rep was "Do you sell to Walmart or any of the big box stores?"  If the answer was yes we would walk away.  We carried specialty toys only from reputable companies that ensured quality control on the toys we carried.  I know Walmart must adhere to the same standards but I question how well they ensured the quality of their products.  Also my little toy store did nothing to hurt other businesses or the community.  My store never put a small mom and pop store out of business.Walmart can not say that.  Yes a lot of the toys we carried were made in China, that is the nature of the beast.  86% of all toys sold in America are made in China.  We also sold toys made in America, Germany, Sweden, and Canada.  Your original assertion was that the economy is getting better.  I say it is not.  And if you believe it is you are just passing along propaganda.  The real effect of this economy will be felt by our grandchildren and great grandchildren who are going to spend their whole lives paying off a national debt this President has increased substantially.  He is not bettering the economy.  Yes your grandson may get his cheap plastic toy from Walmart today, but he will be paying for it the rest of his life.

No sir, my original assertion was simply to share some good news about our country's economy. Businesses buying more and recording a 3rd straight month of increased sales is a good thing.

I, like most Americans, wish employment would improve at a quicker rate. But I also know the horse goes before the cart.

We can continue to wallow in our own self pity, or we can pick ourselves up by the boot straps and start looking towards brighter days. I, for one, have heard enough doom and gloom to last me a life time. This time facts just don't support the doom and gloom message. Recovery is happening. I will not pretend that this is a bad thing. Wink

Good day

Businesses buying more and recording a 3rd straight month of increased sales is a good thing.

If you would have read the article without your rose colored glasses you would have seen retailers were increasing their inventory back to the levels before the problems.  They all lowered inventory levels to cut costs.  They are not increasing because they expect great recovery only to get back to previous levels.  Also yes, there was an increase in sales recently, there always is this time of year.  Easter sales were included in those numbers and tax refund checks are coming out and people are spending a little of it.  It does not show any improvement what so ever.  Just perhaps we are not dragging as much.  That is a far cry from the economy improving.  Improvement comes when people are confident to spend again.  That is not going to happen till more people get jobs and have money to spend.  The article said employment has not improved.  The economy can not improve either till more people get jobs.    Any sustainable recovery that is.  That is how the horse sits in front of the cart.
