Gee...dictionary.com defines forefather as an "ancestor"; originating 1250-1300. Looks pretty simple to me.
Merriam-Webster online relates forefather as:
1 : ancestor 1a
2 : a person of an earlier period and common heritage
MMMMmhhhh...who to believe; who to believe????
Earlier period and common heritage?.....simply could not possibly be the pilgrims and/or the Puritans that left England for America, could it? Who to believe?????
