In reality, only an Attorney-at- Law can give legal advice
Is this a law? Who says others can't give legal advice besides you?
Mal, in Iowa as in most states it IS illegal to practice law without a license. Giving legal advice is considered practicing law.
Logic - Enjoy your input, but I think the point was that the quote "In reality, only an Attorney-at- Law can give legal advice" is legal advice in and of itself. Hence the question why can only JC give legal advice.
What kind of advice was that if not legal advice? What would you call it? You advised me of what you think is legal, an Attorney giving legal advice, and what you think is illegal, my giving legal advice.
I got no response to my question. Can one of you legal experts tell me? If someone comes to me with a problem which I think requires a lawyer and I suggest "get a lawyer", I would call that giving them legal advice. What is your name for that advice?
I truely hope your just being silly here, nobody can be foolish enough to believe that is giving legal advice. But apparently you are not actually looking for answers but merely attempting to prolong an arguement as I have already answered this broadly in a previous posting.
You're apparently going to stick to your narrow definition of legal advice as only the words from an attorney. I'll disagree as will others but I'll leave you be.
I don't think the nation could function if every time someone needed advice on a legal matter they had to ask an attorney. Legal advice can be obtained from a multitude of sources. Newspapers, magazines, on line, your employer, business organizations, trade groups government agencies, books, friends, travel agents, accountants and a host of others.
Some of it is better and some worse but that's life. Some attorneys are better than others also.
End of discussion.
