400 families, $400 billion

Posted in: Muscatine

If your other posts reflect your feelings that the rich should pony up more bucks for the govt to do more things, then why are YOU not screaming and hollering?

I'm not because I'm not from Rhode Island and will not be asked to  make up for the taxes lost because of the lost sales tax.

Is it because this would-be-tax-cheat is a lib? Me and my "fellow travelers" know perfectly well that if a Republican had tried to pull this you and your tag-alongs would be having a apoploxy in outrage.

You know some wealthy Republicans took advantage of this tax law too.   It would defy logic to believe otherwise.   Probably more of them than Democrats simply because they tend to be wealthier.

I have't heard a peep about them from  left or right and I am personally not suffering from apoplexy.

No, it was because Kerry is a Democratic Senator.

Do you have documentation that wealthy Republicans took advantage of this tax law? I do not believe that they have because those libs would have it on MSNBC in a heartbeat.

I do not speak for all, but my own feelings about kerry is that he is a lying, cheating politician who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

. So now the richest 400 should pay even MORE of their EARNED money...

I think you'll find the richest 400 get most of their money as UNEARNED income.

...to the govt that only spends taxpayers money...

Of course it only (almost) spends taxpayer's money.   It has very few operations which make a profit.   You wouldn't want it to, would you?

.... and as recently displayed, often spends that money contrary to those taxpayers wishes (bailouts, healthcare).

We'd all like to write our own budget but it won't work.

"They're now worth $1.27 trillion"

(If true)

Where do you suppose that 1.27 trillion resides?  In what form?

Most is invested to maximize the returns and thereby make the 400 even richer.   It's not invested to create jobs or to aid the helpless or to protect the environment or a host of other things that would be of benefit to us all.

I neglected to mention they own a lot of things which, for lack of a better word, are to only give them pleasure.

Such as multiple homes.   Ken Lay had six.   John McCain kinda lost track of how many he had, but I think it was about the same.

Antique car collections, high priced jewelry.

There's even the guy who has his own football stadium.  I've forgotten who he is.

Stuff like that.

Unbelievable!  Where have you been?  If you believe investing in multiple homes, in this day and age, will maximize returns and make one even richer, you are delusional!  Besides, that's not where the super rich put most of their money.  Real estate is just peeing in the ocean, as far as they are concerned.

"It's not invested to create jobs or to aid the helpless or to protect the environment or a host of other things that would be of benefit to us all."

Another unsupported bald statement!   You seem to be driven to make unsupported statements that fall in line with your imaginary world view.

It's a documented fact that the super rich invest mostly in what are called "start-up" companies.  In other words they risk their capital in ventures that create jobs!!!!

Here's the proof (I hope you can focus long enough to read this article):  http://blogs.wsj.com/wealth/2007/06/12/how-the-rich-invest/

I'd say you, Mallodery, are just spouting more commie crap.
