Revisit old subject-Separation of church-state

Posted in: Muscatine

It comes to mind that liberals are always harping on separation of church and state; even to the extent of memorials and crosses they want removed from public properties. Also like the pledge of allegiance issues with plaques courthouses, and trying to rid public schools of reciting the "under God" phrase.

Was just wondering why they never say a word about the many US Military prisons, Fed prisons, and state prisons that actually issue Bibles and Korans, etc., to gov't prisoners?

Why would liberals think that was alright; but yet we can't have our kids praying in school?

If the government is actually buying and issuing religious material to prisoners, it's not alright.

BS,

Are you tolerant enough to let them build (I think actually remodel an older building) the New York Mosque?

I'm not answering for BB.  This is my own opinion.

If by "them", you mean muslims, I'm more tolerant than they are.  If you don't believe that, read Sharia law.

If you are referring to the mosque planned for the immediate area of the world trade center massacre, then I would say I'm not that tolerant.  Not because I can't tolerate other religions, but because:

1.  I believe their intent is to make a political statement, not a religious one, as evidenced by their selection of this site, in spite of the fact that there are already over 100 mosques in NY city and other sites readily available.

2.  When someone who believes in the stoneing of women, the beheading of political enemies, and the imposition of a theocratic dictatorial society and culture 100% opposite from our country's beliefs and standards, then....no....don't try to lecture me about "tolerance".
