Muscatine

is so hard that it is difficult if not impossible to put into words.  We took our cat to the vet this morning because of concerns we had and was told it was time to put her to sleep, that she was in lots of pain.  The vet said that cats do not show they are in pain but her examination showed she was failing and it was time to do it now.  I asked for one more day but she said that would only add to her suffering.  We took her home and the vet will be here at 2:30 this afternoon to do what needs to be done.  We feel a little better about it knowing that the last thing she will see is her home and that is important to us.

I remember one poster who thought they might had waited too long to have their pet put down so we will know now that it was the best to avoid further pain for our beloved Maddie and for us. 

I feel for you LJ... Rest assured you're doing the right thing. I'm thinking of you.

Jack, I'm so sorry for your loss. But, you know you did the right thing. It's never easy to do, but she's at peace now. If you need a sympathetic ear, you know you can email me privately. I went through this with one of my cats back in March and am facing it with my dog very soon. It's heartbreaking, but the last thing we can do for them is to help them out of their misery. Linda

LJ....they say you can tell a lot about a man by how he treats his dog or cat.  From what we have learned about you on this board, you  must an awful good man.  I hope that you are able to cry freely, to mourn the loss of a much loved member of your family, and to remember all the wonderful, quiet, playful, or sad moments you spent with this animal. I send my sympathies for your loss.
