In a recent trip to north central Iowa, we were amazed at the number of windmills. Some were very close to the road - a county road not a highway - and they are immense. Is quite the sight to see them lined up for seemingly miles across the fields.

We also enjoyed the beautifully colored trees, especially at the Little Brown Church. This pretty fall is the reward we get for the hot, rainy summer. Enjoy!

I think they estmate Iowa has switched about 20% of its generation from dirty coal to clean wind.   The down side is those towers and blades kill a lot of birds.   I guess it's at night when the birds can't see them.

Do lots of birds fly at night? Lol.

The simple answer is, and I'll make this as clear as I can, YES.

Well, according to the info that I was able to find, indeed, there are a FEW birds that fly at night - namely owls - but for the most part birds have very poor eyesight at night so unless they are forced out of their snug nightime habitats by predators, they kind of hide out till dawnish when there is enough light for them.

So, the answer to the question do lots of birds fly at night is - a few, but not many. Since owls do fly around at night they have some night vision and I believe they could see those HUGE, white windmills.

I guess if we sacrifice a few birds for clean energy - so be it.
