"Do lots of birds fly at night ?"

"The simple answer is, and I'll make this as clear as I can, YES."

Well, according to the info that I was able to find, indeed, there are a FEW birds that fly at night - namely owls - but for the most part birds have very poor eyesight at night so unless they are forced out of their snug nightime habitats by predators, they kind of hide out till dawnish when there is enough light for them.

So, the answer to the question do lots of birds fly at night is - a few, but not many. Since owls do fly around at night they have some night vision and I believe they could see those HUGE, white windmills.

I guess if we sacrifice a few birds for clean energy - so be it.

Just google "birds migration night" and you'll get a whole bunch of reponses that say many birds fly at night.   If you read the first line of the Bedford Audobon Society post it says "...the vast majority of birds migrate by night"   The answer is Yes.   If you pursue it further you will find that hundreds of birds can be killed in a single night hitting the guy wires on those thousand foot plus TV antennas.  The lights confuse them and they circle rather than fly past and consequently hit the guys and die.

Now you've learned something.

I, too, read that birds migrate at night and my dear msmal, that is two times a YEAR! From your posts one would think that the sky is constantly filled with birds day AND night - not so. Go out tonight and count all the birds that you see flying around and report back tomorrow.

You're right it's not so, and I never said it was so, not even hinted that it might be.   You're trying to put words in my mouth.

But wind farms kill birds, which is all I said

What the hell do wind farm windmills have to do with TV tower lights and guy-wires? You are so lost, mallcontent!
