So, if we ONLY save 1% to 3% of the budget I say let's save it. I tire of everyone saying that cuts here or cuts there will ONLY save 10 billion or blah blah blah. Only spending billions here and billions there has added up to astronomical debt. Let's not do the majority of the spending cuts on the backs of the elderly and the sick. Stop the spending on stupid stuff - like all those freakin' earmarks.
No problem saving a dab at a time, but you did say "halt all" which I disagree with. A lot of it is worth while. Haliburton was paid more by the U. S. government than all the foreign aid the past few years (excluding the Bush wars clean up). They had a reported $4 billion operating income in 2008. Who knows what more was concealed in the Cayman Islands? Would you be opposed to asking them to contribute a little more so the rest of us wouldn't be so strapped.
