OFFICER KILLED....This is a useless subject for us to argue about, none of us where there, believing the media is more dangerous than owning a gun. Here's the gist of it though.....A cop was thee to serve a search warrant...usually done by knocking and waiting for someone to answer the door unless it's a "no knock" warrant. Now here you have a man in his home, and for the sake of us not knowing, maybe he's entirely innocent, therefore he has no reason to expect cops or anyone making noise at his door at night, so he figures it's a criminal breaking into his home...he has a right to protect his home. Plain and simple...the cop was doing what he thought was right and so was the shooter. If you want to make attacks about deadly weapons go after the a*^h*$ with the tasers. It's obvious they use them out of frustration and it gives them a sense of power. Not to mention the unknown factors such as the heart condition of a person and so on. I say get of chosen's back and realize his main purpose of the story to point out that guns are bad. I disagree myself, if a cop was breaking into my home, he's only lucky i don't have a gun. However, the physical beating he will endure might leave him worse off. I see what your point is chosen, when you jumped on by people with names like orville and such, just consider the sorce.

Is this about gun control or about the right of citizens to be secure in their homes?  If an officer comes to my door and identifies himself as such, I'm going to open it and see what the problem is.  If I'm in bed or watching TV, minding my own business and someone crashes through the door, I'm going to kill that person if I can before he kills me and my family.  If I don't have a gun, I'll use a knife, chair, baseball bat or whatever I can get my hands on before I'm killed.  Most likely the intruder will be armed, so I'm at a huge disadvantage from the start.  I'm not going to try to hold the intruder down, if I can, I'll cut his throat and then call the cops.

What little info is available on this one indicates the cops dropped the ball and a fine young family man paid the initial price for that but it aint over yet.

newsy...I like your way of thinking here, I'd do the same thing, probably get wrongfully prosecuted but I'd still do it to protect mine.
