Good morning High R!

Nice to agree and such like.

I don't hunt, shoot, or even look at any, but we have one just in case...I must stand behind that time tested document as you obviously do. It always amazes me when not just the second, but ANY of these inalienable rights get grated and reshaped to better fit the desires of so few. It's always important for folks to remember that it- IS THE CONSTITUTION our electeds' are SWEARING to protect, uphold and defend. They represent that oath(Not to be taken lightly) in virtually everything they do and say. Not delving into certain abuses of those rights recently, but they too are just as elemental in our liberty and freedom. We must never let that happen with regard to even the slightest aspect of this nations CREED via the constitution. Even in the face of terror from other nations. Yes to those who hate guns, even the second Amendment. From the first to the last, nothing it seems is so precious until you have lost it, and cannot get it back. Hitler loved the lay down your arms and turn the other cheek zeel those millions fell for.

But too, lets not forget that banning even the slightest percentage of weapons,(assault type) regardless how useless to many they may seem, is the first step down that slippery slope of complete and total constitutional inhalation. Like my Mr. says, "The only difference between those banned weapons and the once NOT banned, are how they look! Because they function exactly the same and besides all that, the crooks don't care about those, they want the little ones and that's really what this banning ANY gunsis really all about." Well put says I.  It saddens me when I hear folks say, "What good is that rifle that looks like a military weapon?" Well, to the man or woman who owns it and uses it legally, it's as good as dad's shotgun or coyote/deer rifle. You might not hunt with it but so what. It shoots a bullet that can do no more harm than most all others, it's a target gun, a defensive gun, or even a display piece. That's your constitutional right(legally) TO OWN IT, like it or not. I just hated the idea that some self described "artiest" has the rightto pump his or her butt full of fluid and gush it upon a canvas,  place it in a gallery as ART, and then have the gall to contest the rights given EVERYONE else to exercise his or her constitutional rights because "They" don't think it should matter to the rest of us. But Oh Lord, just try to tell that "Picture Pooper" that the constitution doesn't grantee his or her right to poop on canvas as Freedom Of Expression" and just watch the protests and Constitutional empathy then.

No sirs, nothing should be MORE important to any ones perspective than to protect ALL of the constitution's elements and aspects. IT says what it means, and it means what it says! If anyone doesn't believe that, then just ask a journalist to lay down his/her rights to Freedom Of The Press at the doorstep of the next dictator in charge. If any elected official even looks like he or she might violate that oath, OUT THEY SHOULD GO, guns or no guns.

Merry Christmas and God Bless

Can anyone show me proposed legislation to take away everyone's guns?  Does anyone really believe that could happen here?

Like I said, some of you guys sure scare easily.  LaughingWink

Gun bans in cities and weapons-surrendering deadlines has not already occurred anywhere in the U.S., davie? If it has happened in the past; it can happen in the future.

The path to "taking away everyone's guns" does not start with full blown legislation to do just that.  The path is a step by step approach, and is much more subtle.  The path involves several steps designed to lead and deceive an unwitting populace into their own enslavement.

It goes something like this: first the demonizing of guns, then mandatory registration, next banning and confiscation, and finally total civilian disarmament. Once totally disarmed, the enslavement of the people then follows with limited resistance. This has been the path of Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, Red China, Cuba and other totalitarian regimes of the 20th century.

Some might choose to ignore history and suggest that gun registration records will not  be used in the future to confiscate guns. Handgun Control, Inc. is one of the leading advocates of gun registration and gun control. What do they say? The director of Handgun Control, Inc. has stated that mandatory registration is one of the steps towards eventual prohibition of handgun ownership

Unfortunately when presented with the actual history of the steps to oppression that were used by totalitarian regimes, and the resulting enslavement of their populations, naive Americans respond, yes, but that cannot happen here.

In a case study close to home, Cubans lost their guns in 1959. When they lost their guns, they lost their ability to regain freedom. The result, today Cubans are enslaved in totalitarianism, under an oppressive government that promised the dream of a socialist utopia. Instead of the utopian paradise they were promised, they ended up with the nightmare of a police state in a communist island prison.

Those that ignore history are bound to repeat it!
