Wow, I am amazed at the lack of knowledge of Goodwill's mission.!! Goodwill is a non-profit company, meaning NO bonuses for CEO's of employees. All profits go to community programs such as training the disabled workers a skill, dislocated veterans programs, flood victims and red cross, and many other community projects to help people get on their feet. The more money the store makes, the more community agencies are helped this year. What a way to get a tax write off and clean out your closet of unwanted items then to donate and know that every dollar spent is actually helping someone directly or indirectly rebuild their lives. Prices arent increased to pad anyones pockets. They help keep the lights on, on 25cent  day on Monday??Where can you get 3 large bags of clothing for 3.00$  ?? Stop in ask an employee or a veteran what Goodwill stands for..and maybe you might find a bargain too!!! Plus Shopgoodwill.com is a fun way to see items that cant be priced to bid on sort of an ebay style good time..

I know at the start of the school year I bought a week's worth of clothes for each of my three school age kids for a total of $20.  Nice clothes, too.  Even found some fairly expensive name brands.  I love shopping at Goodwill.  I also love clearing the clutter out of my house every so often and know that it'll go to someone who can use it, rather than fill up a landfill.

Joey3- Thanks for the info. Now I know exactly how G.W. helps.

Frazzled, I'm with you. : -) I don't have kids, but I buy the vast majority of my clothes there. I can get a perfectly good pair of jeans...brand name!...for $5.38. Usually I can find them for half price which sure beats paying retail. The store is clean and a lot less crowded than other stores I could mention. Last summer I found an ice cream maker for $2.38 and made ice cream all summer. I like knowing the prices of everything. So often stores don't have prices marked and I'm not about to hunt down a clerk to ask. With Goodwill, there's no doubt what the price is. If you want bargains, look for the half-price items or go Mondays when you can get some things for 25c. Can't beat it.
