It is no secret that I am a smoker. I just want to vent a little bit.
I think it is absurd that you cannot smoke in a bar anymore. That is the only reason I do not go to bars anymore. I did not mind when they banned smoking from restaraunts, etc. But bars?!!
Now I have friends that invite me to their house to drink, play cards, watch movies, etc. When I want a smoke, I am told to go outside or go to the basement or told to go to the garage. Which is fine with me, but the reason they ask this is usually because they don't want their kids around my smoke. So when I am in the basement or outside, guess who is there with me. Their kids! Well, in this weather, I usually go home early so I can relax and have a cig. I've had people complain that I do not visit them very often or for very long. So, I started to invite people to my house. They bring their kids and announce that I cannot smoke around their kids. In my own house! Why can't the kids go outside or in the basement while I smoke? Mind you, I have been to peoples houses that smoke and they have a desnigated area to smoke, but when they come to my house, they are free to smoke where ever they want.
Back in the old days, my parents never smoked. But when company came, they busted out an ashtray for the smokers.
