Muscatine high school student beaten up by 2 students in October.  That student was kicked out of school for 5 days.  December: that same student was attacked by the same kids at school and kicked out of school again.  And only allowed in school with an escort.  (the attackers have been seen at school without an escort.) And students classes cut to a bare minimum.  Student cannot attend meals, has lost his insurance because  child is not a Full time student any more, will not have enough credits allowed to student to graduate on time, (even though schoolsays student has enough to graduate on time schools own records say otherwise.)  Also was not even allowed to send a close relative or anyone else a school sponsored singing valentine without principal approval.  But wasn't allowed to visit principal because had to leave campus.  Time allowed on campus was up.  School did not investigate why student was attacked the first time.  Would not even talk to students who saw attacks.  Only talked to teachers who arrived after fight was started.  Student feet from classroom door when attacked.  Attackers classes were across to the other side of school.  The victum has a disibility that may have been worsened by the attacks.

THIS COULD BE YOUR CHILD.Cry

QUESTIONS: Was this child a boy or a girl?

Was this child normally a "good" student or should that be considered .

Does this child have the right to defend themself when attacked?

Does the school have the obligation to conduct an investigation as to why the fight happened, who started it.  And to justly punish those involved.

Is it right for the victum to be decriminated against when trying to take part in school function?  (the student was informed earlier that they could take part in all school functions)

If you were this childs parent what would you do?

What would I do?

I suppose I would invoke the spirit of Paul Harvey and search for the "rest of the story".

Or at the very least, I'd want to hear the other side of the story.

yeah I have a daughter who is currently going to night school because of three fights. the first fight she was attacked by two girls. she had one in front and one in back and she tried to defend herself. her friend who is a bit of a trouble maker jump in to help her, which made it look like four girls fighting. we had multiple witnesses including one of the attackers friends who had told the girls not to do it. but my daughter was still suspended. the second fight she was defending her bother who has just had chest surgery. a girl had punch him in his chest, when she confronted the girl she hit my daughter and it was on. we had witnesses to that one too. her last fight I do not know who had started it but I know my daughter was in the wrong for being on school grounds during a suspension. I don't know what I should do. I just got custody of my daughter and she had not been in school until I got her. I was trying to get her an education and the teachers at central was trying to get her caught up for high school. the high school seems to care more about policy and control then educating these kids. one of my complaints is the tardy policy. one tardy and you get a detention, two chances to serve the detention, if missed you get one day out of school. my child rides the bus so she would miss her ride. I work til 5 to 5:30 plus I do not own a car. I have tried to work with the school but they say tough. plus what does a day out of school teach them, I am not home so she can do what she want. why not in school and make the do a book report or something. I know there has to be rules but so strict. one tardy and you get a detention. I know L&M it is three tardies get you a detention. how about the rules at the football games. my boy got kicked out of the game for standing to long in line for drinks. they are not allowed to walk around. I just want my child to get an education and they have not been any help at all. central went out of there way to help her. my only choice is to seen her to L&M. my daughter has had it pretty rough with her mom, she was physically abused, taught to steal and lie, she was bounced around from state to state, her mom sold drugs for a living and kept her away from me. I finally got custody after the police got involved on a domestic abuse call. and now I have to fight the school to get her an eduction. anyone else having problems with MHS. people please show some respect because this is a soar subject with me.

My son had probs out there last year too. A teacher said he walked towards her in a threatning manner. We are still trying to figure that one out. He was kicked out for 5 days, we had to go to the acting assistant principals office.....the man was an a**hole, wouldnt allow my son to tell his side of the story....he said he had the "only true version". My son and i got up and walked out. They have no desire to get to the truth out there. M.H.S. and its faculty are an over paid joke.
