Muscatine

Where Are They Now

Posted in: Muscatine

I was born and raised in Muscatine.  Haven't lived there for about 40 years.  Often wondered what became of people I once knew.  Does anybody remember a girl named Judy Predmore?  Her married name was Judy Martin.  I also like to walk down memory lane during the 1940s and 50s.  Anybody ever had a decent Maid Rite outside of Muscatine?

Being from Davenport, I have to say the best loose-meat sandwich I ever had was from Herb's, a small ice cream stand that was on Northwest Boulevard in the Ridgeview neighborhood. Best way to have it, with just a dab of Mustard. The Maid Rite is now the best, as Herb's closed up many years ago.

I was born in '64, so the only 40's and 50's strolling I can do is my Glenn  Miller CD's and KTel Classic Country CD's.

The other day I was at my mom's in Davenport watching her satellite TV. There was a station showing old Lassie and Lone Ranger episodes. My wife said that her sister would cry whenever Lassie waved goodbye at the end of the show.

Want to stroll?  Go to about page six on this message board and look for a post started March 20th titled "Childhood Memories". There are some 117 posts about Muscatine's history from back then!

Also, I visited a Maid-Rite in Sacramento, Ca. in the early seventies. It was the same back then as Muscatine's. Don't know if it is there anymore or not; but the whole shebang is now owned by franachisers out of Des Moines headquarters.

Sorry; did not know any Predmores.
