Kenn- I DO understand the dirt road analogy. I have this picture in my house that I love. It has a man & a woman, hand in hand walking through a forest. There are streams of sunshine- there are shady areas. On the path that they walk, there are puddles where the rain fell & there are dry places, as well. Obviously, the dry land is where the sun shines & the puddles are in the shady areas.
At the end of the path, there is only sunshine & green grass. It's life- My husband & I celebrated our 30th anniversary this year. We have had challenges- (sigh!)- have we ever-! When things are going great...sometimes I get scared - waiting for the other shoe to drop. When life is difficult, there are times I look to the sky & ask God WHY? but I have my picture.
I look at it & tell myself this. "Ok tlou, things are going great. The sun is shining & the ground is solid! It won't last forever so appreciate it & be thankful." "Ok tlou, life really suck right now, you are walking through puddles & it's dark. It won't last forever, so LEARN FROM IT & be thankful for the lesson. I have grandchildren. I gotta get tough & wise. I guess that's how it needs to be.
So that this doesn't get too soupy... (& this is for WROE!)... THAT &*^%% PICTURE KEEPS ME FROM KICKING MY HUSBAND TO THE CURB EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE!
You had a great analogy, Kenn. When life throws you lemons, make lemonade. You are an inspiration to us all. So are all of the other posters.
