Thanks for the pic. Is it a Fordson? I used my magnifying glass on the photo but can't quite make out the maker's name on the radiator cover.
Gramps had 2 Oliver tractors: An older Hart-Parr (Oliver precurser) and an Oliver Row Crop 70. He swore by Oliver. He also kept his last Percheron team even though he didn't really use them on the farm any more. Just fed them, gave them a nice warm barn and plenty of room to roam. He just couldn't give them up, even though he limped all his older life from one of them kicking him in the knee.
Anyway, old tractors and draft horses are real special to me. By the way, the Old Thresher's reunion is coming up next month!
Sounds like your gramps and mine woulda hit it off. My gramps and his brother, Albert were both teamsters. I have a photo or two of them with their teams and the ice wagons they drove.
Gramps used to tell us kids about driving a coal or lumber wagon and lightening spooked his team. They ran across the old high bridge into Illinois and he spent the day chasing them down and bringing them back.
