Prices are definitely high compared to other stores locally. It would certainly be smart to know your prices before assuming Wal-Mart is the lowest, because they definitely aren't on a lot of things. I tend to buy pretty much the same grocery items every week and probably 90% it is cheaper at Fareway and what isn't cheaper, isn't enough higher to make it worth a trip to Wal-Mart. Heck, a jar of peanut butter is $2.19 at Fareway and $2.68 at Wal-Mart. That's a pretty big difference on a single item. That probably doesn't hold true if you buy a lot of cereal and/or frozen/canned items, but don't just buy something at Wal-Mart because you're there and figure it's cheaper. |

Yep, another tip: Don't assume Walmart, or Menards is the least expensive place to buy hardware items. I often find better prices and brands at True Value Hardware. In addition, Blaines Farm & Fleet has saved me hundreds of dollars on larger power tools (ie: band saw, chain saw, radial arm saw). Even lower priced than the same item at Lowe's or Home Depot in Davenport/Bettendorf. |

Absolutely...I just bought a rainfall showerhead with hand-held attachment for a new house we are buying and working on...I got it for 9 dollars cheaper than anywhere else I could find. I don't step on Walmart property for fear of being injured, poisoned, or polluted, but I did check for it on their website. They didn't even have the same Nat'l brand that is even advertised on TV. And mine is made in the USA! Always check prices. |
