There was no "battlefield" at the time of the embassy bombings.   The Bush wars didn't start until three years later.

I'm not willing to throw out our bill of rights and our constitution to get a few more convictions or a longer sentence.   Apparently you are.   Twenty years to life seems adequate.   The judge will probably go far beyond twenty years.   They may have gotten more if some of the testimony wasn't thrown out because it was obtained by torture.
