I don't see how anyone will be harmed by allowing same sex marriage but I do know there is a group of people who are harmed by not allowing it.

So tell me, who do you think is harmed by allowing it and in what way.

And also tell me what interest the state has in harming people by opposing it.

This is addressed especially to all my conservative friends but I'm interested the liberal views too.

Unfortunately, it would just be another thing that the VA would have to be taking care of (Aids).  I worked with a guy who was semi-openly gay.  You might have remember him on the news.  He was arrested for transmitting the disease, and, was the 1st, in the State of Iowa to have been so.  There are now about 300-400 employees who wonder if they could have been affected by the day to day interaction of this person. 

Society will be harmed by it, It detroys the family unit (mother, father and children)

I already know by your post that you don't agree with this point of view, so let me ask you a question. If marriage is accepted between same sex couples because it is their civil right, because after all they were "born this way" Where do you draw the line? Do you draw it at the point of polygamy? Incestual relationships? How about pedophiles? I'm betting the later would say they were born like that and did not choose it.
