There is one area I don't think has been talked about here at least so far, when the legal  marriage between gays takes place  now it can't be just a walk away situtation if or when they get tired of each other, now it involves lawyers and courts and property, etc.. 

As with anything someone is going to make money off of this new situtation.

 

Lawyers make money on opposite sex marriage dissolution already.   Would you advocate that nobody marry to thwart the lawyers?

 

I am wondering how the new don't ask don't tell ruling is going to effect the military or not and how will they look upon a gay marriage when it comes to benefits. 


They will treat military benefits the same as any other marriage.   That's one of the reasons people want same sex marriages to be recognized.

Jeff, there's no if to your actions being bigotry. By pure definition of the word many are guilty of bigotry. Reasons really don't matter.

Oh sure, but what about Billy Bob and the goat?  And how 'bout poor Cletis and his 13 year old cousin?  Who's gonna stand up for them if you won't?   Are you going to be the one who decides which pervert is okay, and which isn't?

Jeff:  I wouldn't worry too much.  According to most dictionary definitions, your actions are not those of a bigot.

According to the Cambridge Dictionary:  

bigot noun

/ˈbɪg.ət/ n [C] disapproving
a person who has strong, unreasonable beliefs and who thinks that anyone who does not have the same beliefs is wrong.
 
Now, it has been shown, even in this thread that there are several very reasonable "reasons" for believing gay marriage is bad for our society - so I would say most of us do not qualify as bigots.  There are at least two or three people that post here that do have strong, unreasonable beliefs and think that all those who disagree with them are wrong.  I'll let the you decide who they are.
