I definitely feel that political smears, made-up quotes, misinformation, ignorance of economics, laws, and history, and most of all intolerance of other opinions are damaging communications and dividing communities here on NL and nationwide... if that's what you were talking about, I'm in total agreement with you.

However, "no personal attacks against NL users" is an easy line for me to draw, and I think folks who cross it either know they are crossing it or are beyond hope.  Barring all political discussion here would also be an easy line to draw, and it might even make this a "friendlier" place for many, but giving people a place to solve political problems (albeit at a local level) is one of the things NL is all about so I'm hesitant to add anything like that to the list of rules.

As for the smears, misinformation, etc... man, I'd love to see those gone, and all of the political discussion be accurate, polite, and most of all constructive, but defining that line is a lot harder.

Work in progress here.  Thanks for sticking with us through the growth pains, and thanks to those of you who are taking the high road and aren't getting baited or feeding the trolls.

So robert, then you tell us where to go since the references we are using, you feel are wrong and things are being misquoted. Ive seen no personal smears or attacks since you laid out the rules.

Or at least tell us what we are or are NOT supposed to have an opinion or discussion about.....

If we come here to have a discussion about the things that matter to us, its up to anyone to choose to reply or not.

Everyone here has the choice to enter a reply to a topic here....if its something you choose not to be a part of u can choose not to be a part of it am i correct or not?

I don't even know what to say. I know I feel something needs to be said, but I think I'll just take a mental note for later and move on.

But the problem is that our 2nd amendment right HAS been infringed up, Heller vs D.C.,Ibelieve chicago has a ban on weapons too. Nobama stated he agreed with th D.C. ban.

What happens when liberal  justices are appointed? how do u think our constitution will be reinterpreted?

We don't have the rights we did 20 yrs ago and cant afford to lose anymore. Our government was NEVER set up to play big brother, but has insisted on playing that role anyway.

Things people used to take for granted are gone, little rights that we no longer have. I cant get into my truck and decide NOT to put my seatbelt on...That right was taken away from me. My decision to smoke pretty much anywhere in public is gone.

He is going to raise taxes and capital gains. The people who have money are losing thier right to keep it.

How about the U.N.'S  anti poverty act...845 billion dollars that we will be footing the bill for to help other countries....BUT WHAT ABOUT THE POOR HERE? Sorry i forgot that thats what the redistribution of wealth here is for........

dont take what i said wrong istreat, cuz i usually do agree with you, and i do now...but its like i said everyday that goes by we lose more and more of that protected freedom.
