This is from the muscatine freecycle group:

"There are several students at my school without hats and gloves. If you have extra lying around that are still in pretty good condition, please let me know.  Email: bunniesrfun68@yahoo.com

Dawn"

I figure there must be somebody on this group that could help her. I found some hats at Goodwill yesterday, but haven't found any mittens and about the only gloves it seems you can buy are those thin knit ones that I personally don't think would be very warm.

Thanks, Linda

sent you an Email. went through our daughters closet and found gloves hats and scarves for you

Finally! Someone who wants donations that aren't "brand new" items. (I find it hard to believe that all charities want "brand new" items. Some of us can't afford to buy that for the needy, let alone for our own kids. It really has left a bitter taste in my mouth that needy kids now days want everything brand new. My boys were raised on hand me downs and goodwill clothes~ why would I buy brand new for needy kids?)

I have talked to many people that are turned off by the expectations given on the gifts they give for needy children. One example is a woman who who got a star off a tree at the mall and it said "shoes size 6-Nike only".

Also, Hon has a competition every year with which line can donate the most food. There is TONS of food donated by Hon at Christmas. And I literally mean tons. Does this food stay locally?

Okay, I am ranting~So we need more info on where we can drop off gloves and hats and scarfs. Give me a week and give me a drop off place.

P.S. Note to parents, get them old fashoined glove clips that attache to the coat and your kids wont lose their gloves. When your kid takes off their coat, shove their hat in the sleeve of their coat.....if they are older, take the gloves and put them inside of their hat and then put it in the sleeve of their coat.

oh, and I also want to know more about the freecyle group.
