If the Repubs knuckle under on this one they are finished.

I guess they are finished then because as bad as they got their a$$ kicked in the last election they are not going to do anything to lose the Latino vote that I believe was 67% to 31% against them.  There may be a few of them run off the mouth, but that will be about it.

I bet that they do not even try to filibuster, they all want to get reelected.

Sad but true this is just plain old politics used by both partys and this is why I would never belong to a political party.

A lot of 'crats want re-elected too. And with Obama's handling of the economy so far, It's gonna be a fun election to watch.

Ken, I'm not sure we can say this is plain old politics used by both partys on this one.  There is a serious principle of judicial restraint (should judges make up laws, or should our elected legislators?) that is above politics when it comes to Supreme Court appointments.

In addition, how can you loose something you've already lost?  Remember the Dems filibuster against Bush's appointment of Gonzalez?  Did that loose them the Hispanic vote?   If you are against someone on principle, and that person happens to be of Hispanic origin, are you a racist?  Do you really believe that Hispanics are that ignorant?

Hiroad,

I am not talking about the merits of the appointment, I am talking about what the politician's will do to get reelected. If they have a large Hispanic population they may vote against the appointment but they will not be up there speaking against it.

I have been following politic's for 50 years and I have seen it come true to many times. I understand what you are saying and we will find out at the hearings and when the votes are cast. I have been wrong before and I am sure I will be again because I am a long ways from perfect. This is just my opinion nothing more.
