On another board someone started a thread asking for opinions about the killing of Tiller. I was the first to respond saying "I have no pity for the SOB".

Then all hell broke loose. There's been well over 100 responses. Only a very few feel the way I do. I come to the conclusion the life of a baby has no value. Like the joke says, into the dumpster.

Nedl,

Get off your damn high horse.  Until you have stood at your infant's bedside watching him fight for his life, and almost losing it, don't tell anyone else they don't know the value of a baby.  Until you have been faced the with most anguishing decision of whether to have an abortion or not, don't preach at others.

I have faced both.  Both my children won.  Abortion was never a consideration for me.  I discovered at that time that while I am pro-choice, it was not the choice for me.  For some, it probably should be.

When babies are no longer tossed in dumpsters, neglected or abused so badly they die, and when every unwanted pregnancy ends with a baby finding a loving adopotive home, then I would consider making abortion illegal.   In the U.S. last year, over 900,000 children were confirmed as victims of child abuse and/or neglect.  That doesn't touch on the over 2.6 million reported, just confirmed.

I don't believe abortion should be a form of birth control.  I do believe though, that in some instances, it might be more humane for a woman to have an abortion than to look their child in the eye as they beat him or her to death.

I applaud you for not playing the religion card, among other things. On the other board I mentioned, that was the first thing pro choice people brought up. And that opened the door for the bashing of whatever religion you choose to hate. Especially catholicism it seems. And the atheists took pokes at everyone.

Thank you Lilsmom because you went right down my road of thinking. I worked with a man that was pro-choice and his daughter was not because the child would qualify her for a check, food stamps, a house with the utilities paid plus I do not know what else. Then she had the second one, more of the same.

Then she hooked up with a guy that did not want kids so they dropped them off at the grandparents just before they took off. Then the grandparents spent a ton of money getting custody and getting them on their insurance plan plus raising them.

Twenty five years later both children have graduated from college and are doing well. if all goes well grandpa will be able to retire in five years at age seventy five.  What would have happened if the grandparents had not been there ? I think they need a medal.
