I think you're on the right track here, Daryl. JOS has seemingly fallen into the trap of basin all judgement on politics. "If he was a Republican, you'd support him" is a nonsensical statement. If he was a Republican, he wouldn't believe the things he believes.
Doesn't it really all boil down to our perceptions of right and wrong....good and bad? I perceived Nixon and Clinton to be bad men, but good at their jobs. Salvation Army...good. ACORN....bad. Bush and Obama....good men, bad presidents. Aren't we constantly searching for that one guy who is not only a good person, but can be a good president?
