Hi HiRSmile

Give that man a cigar! Sadly thats the way. It reminds me of the same old profiteering mentality that has plagued our nation since the days of the Robber Barron's and the causes of the worst economic periods in our history. I fully understand democracy, capitalism, free market society, and "The right to life, liberty, freedom, happiness and the American way." Plus the right to screw the consumer any way possible to make the most profits possible. That's why we lost so many millions of fine jobs the past nine years. Not only do corporations not pay for anything, they also have learned with politicians help, how to opt out of paying taxes too.  But I don't see the connection between libs and conservs. Right and rwong are just that. Wanting things done the right way knows no party line. So they continue NOT abiding by the rules, and who to pay off to get what they want. But as you point out HiR, they'll just raise the price, taking and taking until we finally say ENOUGH! Then like the realtor who asked 40% more than he/she knew they'd get, they say."Oh, we're sorry, here:::here's a little break." "Happy now whiners?" and, like the simps they think we are, we go:::"About time!" The profits keep rolling in and we feel a little better because we got heard. So right you are HiR, but you don't have to be a member of one party or the other to be fed up with it and want  change. I look ahead to that, once again, when we find that fresh hope after the next repub. controlled congress takes over. But I trust we'll get as mad at them if they don't fix things either. That happened three years ago when the polluters were given another pass. I still say oust them all every two terms no exceptions.

You know, I keep posting this...and it always seems to pass over heads. Only Congress controls spending...not any president. If you give Clinton credit for recovery, you have to realize who actually controlled that economy. Repubs took over again in 94 elections.

Like the "Reagan-nomics" the lib press labelled that era with. Dems were totally in control during that period of 18% interest rates. Convenient, huh?

Hi BBSmile

Yeah I have heard it, read it, and lived it several times, but nothing gets to our record books unless the "Big Guy" signs it. If ya re-read it, you'd see that I clearly stated that Clinton presided over the greatest recovery with a Republican congressional majority. The experts are still hashing about the credit. But for my money, as my gramma use to say, "There shouldn't be a one winged eagle, she simply goes in circles." Or something like that.  If Obama truly wants to dissolve those dividing lines, he'd embrace a fairer mix of dems and repubs. I realize gridlock is one of our stumbling blocks right now, but wouldn't it be easier to compromise with an opposite majority? I debate constantly with my father about that. He's a soft to moderate Dem. and thinks that the repubs shouldn't even be thinking about any seats in congress. In his business, he got to see first hand how much they cared about the working man through their so called "contract with America." His long years in the building industry has been super tough the past five or six years and has been hurt by the trade and tax policies of the last admin. since he cannot financially close here and move to Mexico. Not that he would anyway. I'm no business tycoon, but can balance a checkbook and just like most Americans these days, it hurt so much more in the last four years or more to budget, and try to eak out a living.  I know it reeks of living in the past, but we really cannot lay the blame on Clinton, Obama, nor a democratic congress. By that::: learning from our mistakes, especially those of the past admin. is more important now than ever. But I must agree with your comment . They do the math and he grades the work. Both share the blame or the glory in the end.

"The pollutors should pay to clean it up and they don't make corn flakes."

I must point out, once again, something that libs and democrats can't seem to keep in mind.  Corporations do not "pay" for anything, including cleaning up pollution or even taxes.  Their customers, and eventually all consumers, do.   All costs are plugged in to the product price in order to maintain return on investment.  If they cannot maintain return on investment for a significant period of time they either raise the price, go out of business, or move the business.

Your right of course.   I should have said let the pollutor's customers pay to clean it up.
Add the cost to their bourbon etc. and not my health care.   They can then enjoy their drinks but at a little higher price and I can enjoy my clean air.
