Even if you'd get it, davie, you'd still have most of the same illegal immigration problems. What makes YOU think adding a photo would stop illegals? They have illegal driver's licenses with photos everywhere....they always have had.

Not your idea? Did I say it was? Don't put words in my mouth. I addressed your support of it....that's all. And that would be fruitless as I have posted. Won't change much about illegal immigration; so it would be another liberal waste. They would just create fake SS pic cards just like they do driver's lic and ID's now.

Sorry BigB but I am an independent (although admittedly right leaning with what the democrats are doing lately) and I fully support this idea.  To state that it would be fruitless is a defeatist attitude.  Given the technology we have now it is much more difficult to "create" fake drivers licenses and ID's.  With the incorporation of bar-coding welfare agencies would be able to determine the validity of the card prior to issuing "benefits".  In so far as not changing much about illegal immigration it would go far if it were required for employees to have one prior to hiring since they are difficult to create fakes.  Technology is changing daily and the changes can be incorporated into the cards as needed since the card would be renewable just as a drivers license.  Given you are near the same age as I, I am sure you do remember when a drivers license was a paper card with no photo and very simple to fake or "alter".  Went to many a bar early in my life after a simple use of a straight blade and tape.
