A thought has occurred to me concerning the impasse between GPC and the Union.  From day one, GPC presented a proposal to the union that was their first and final offer.  In other words, no matter what was discussed, GPC would not change their offer.  To me this is what has been called "unfair labor practice" or something like that.  Having a federal mediator present has not helped and will not help.  The union needs to seek a legal opinion on what constitutes unfair labor practice.  GPC is on record that they will not change so there is nothing to mediate.  Instead the union needs to file unfair labor practice charges and ask that the whole bargaining process be sent to arbitration.  Maybe there are others here who know more about this than I so speak up and if you know any of the union members ask them why they have not filed unfair labor practice charges against GPC
