So what is it with you conservatives believing it should be every man for himself? Why should a person's access to quality health care (and therefore their chances of living a long and productive life) be determined by the size of their pocketbook? Is a poor man's life worth less than a rich man's? Is the life of an unemployed person not as important as a the life of a person has a job that provides benefits?

True story - A lifelong Muscatine resident in his late fifties was let go from his job of thirty years just this year. He was hired at a time when a four-year college degree wasn't necessary to work his way up in the company. However, the recession has forced the company to cut back and those without four-year degrees were let go. His kids are all grown and out of the house so it's just him and his wife. He's found a part time job while he is looking for more stable employment, yet he won't be eligible to purchase health care through his new job for another six months. His part time pay is far less than he had been earning and he and his wife are currently depleting their savings and retirement accounts to maintain their home. This is a man who has worked every day of his adult life to provide for his family and plan for retirement and now he can't even provide basic health insurance for himself and his wife. They're both too young for Medicare and his part time pay combined with his wife's part time pay is barely enough to cover the monthly expenses. What do you say to him gta1? Do you say "Screw him! It's every man for himself."

Ok haysus.......R YOU WILLING TO DROP YOUR CURRENT COVERAGE AND TAKE NOBAMAS? that was a question i asked that you blew off...HOW MUCH MORE WOULD YOU LIKE OUR TAXES RAISED?......according to the crap plan nobama is trying to pass....just like clintons....you will lose rights.....SO HAYSUS HOW MANY MORE RIGHTS YOU WILLING TO LOSE?.......and why the hell arent you helping this guy out....you say i'm selfish?......get your wallet out and help the man out since you know him........oh by the way....i have been in his position..when my son was born my ex and i made minimum wage and couldnt get help ...according to dhs we made too much money.....my son was on a monitor for 3 months 1 month at 700.00 and 2 months at 1200.00 per month....we both made around 5.00 per hr......we paid for a very long time to get it paid off, haysus........we didnt expect others to open thier wallets to us...by the way haysus we had absolutely no insurance at all...and my ex worked for the hospital...it wasnt available to her then nor was it available to me....it destroyed our credit...we were sued .......but we didnt sit back and expect everyone to pay the bill.......we did what we had to do to survive........but i personally cant afford to open my wallet any further for socialism.......and if u can thats great ....get it open and help your friend!

People like JOS think they are much more intelligent than the rest of us.  And, therefore, should be allowed to tell us how to spend our money.   They, like all liberals, look at all income as actually belonging to the government first, and ours should only be what the government allows us to keep.   Because,  ....we are too stupid to manage it ourselves and the government has much better uses for it.   It's truly La La land.
