Arizona immagration law

Posted in: Muscatine

I think if we in Muscatine were living with the conditions that they are experiencing in AZ and TX with all the drug wars, murders and mayhem that is occurring, we would be camped on the govs door demanding action.

I agree... We'd indeed be demanding action. It's just I'd like to pretend it would be a legal action and not just some fancy words that will later be over turned by the supreme court. A law can not and should not be based on race

"A law can not and should not be based on race."

Is that your extensively experienced legal mind at work again?

Then why do we have America's Civil Rights Act of 1964, that is law? It is based mostly on "racial" segregation!

Why do we have anti-discrimination laws that stipulate to race, ethnicity, creed, and color?????

We have many laws that are exactly based on race. Sometimes, you even suprise ME with ridiculous statements.

I'll again ask where's the Tea Party? Could you imagine if they were jailing gun owners until they could prove that their guns were all legal?

You will have to ask someone from the TEA party movement.  As far as I know, there isn't anyone in the neighborhood who has professed to be a tea partier.  You will have to ask them, not us.  They do jail gun owners who don't have proper registration and documentation.  The legal ones we leave alone.  Just like the immigrants we leave the legal ones alone.

You seem to say somone can cross the border illegally and then have the option of getting or not getting documents that allow one to stay legally.   I don't think it works that way.  You have to have the documents before you cross the border.   If you haven't done that you will be sent back.

Exactly!!  They cross the border knowing they are going to be criminals.  They could choose to get proper documentation, but they choose to break the law.  So why should we not treat them as criminals?
